Rural Island Community Health

We are thankful for good teammates, Simon and Victoria Ewing (and their two children, Tabitha and Reuben). Working through local churches on Kome Island, they are starting the Island Health Project with the help of our community health educator, Gertrude John.

We share a passion to see the people of rural and remote islands in Lake Victoria, Tanzania transformed – physically and also spiritually!

We are looking to see change in the following areas:
  • Maternal and child health
  • Clean water, sanitation
  • HIV AIDS education, counselling
  • Nutrition
  • Family Relationships
  • Basic health
Working out of Kome Island with local churches we hope to engage with the local community, offering basic health education and training of local health workers. With an emphasis on Maternal and child health, we want to engage in preventative and primary healthcare on the islands through mobile clinics.

In time we hope and pray that Kome would be a light to the islands - physically, with a District Health and Resource Centre and spiritually, offering counselling, serving with compassion.
