Lighthouse: Kome Island Clinic, Tanzania from Rachel Monger on Vimeo.
We are privileged to know and work with Dr. Bernard Makori who is the Director of Rural Island Community Health, (R.I.C.H.) an NGO devoted to providing medical care and health education for the people on islands on Lake Victoria. He is a member of Mwanza International Community Church, a true servant in the Kingdom of God … and a good friend!

We are excited about a UK couple coming soon from the UK to help as Community Health Coordinator for this Rural Island Health Project!
We are looking to see change in the following areas:
- Maternal and child health
- Clean water, sanitation
- HIV AIDS education, counselling
- Family Relationships
- Basic health
Dr Makori runs a clinic on Kome Island (the second largest island in Lake Victoria) and uses this as a base for mobile clinics to surrounding areas and other more remote islands.

Working out of Kome, in partnership with EI, local churches and RICH, we hope to engage with the local community, offering basic health education and training of local health workers. With an emphasis on Maternal and child health, we want to engage in preventative and primary healthcare on the islands through mobile clinics.
In time we hope and pray that Kome would be a light to the islands - physically, with a District Health and Resource Centre and spiritually, offering counselling, serving with compassion.
